Rose

Rose

Roses are arguably the most popular of garden plants.  There are hundreds of varieties that come in every shape, size, and color.  The following are some of the main groups of roses.

Climber Roses: Have arching canes of 6′ or more in height and are great for trellises and fences.

Floribunda: Easy to grow with bouquet-like clusters of flowers.

Grandiflora: Tall plants with single to small clusters of large flowers.

Hybrid Tea: Large, single flowers grow all season long on sturdy stems.

Miniature: Come in many shapes and sizes but all have small flowers that bloom longer than standard roses. Shallow root systems make for higher water needs.

Shrub: Winter hardy and low maintenance shrubs with lots of spring blooms followed by cycles of blooms throughout the growing season.

Species & Hybrids:  Hardy and easy-care “Wild” roses.  Most bloom once in the spring.

Scientific Name:  Rosa spp. & hybrids

Exposure:  Full Sun
