Sumac

sumac

Sumacs can be either small trees or spreading shrubs.  This tropical-looking plant adapts to poor soil conditions and to drought.  Sumacs have bright orange to red fall color.  Make sure to plant this shrub in areas where it has room to grow, it tends to sucker.

Scientific Name:  Rhus spp.

Staghorn Sumac or Rhus typhina has velvety green stems and fuzzy cone-shaped flowers.

Exposure:  Full to Part Sun

Height: 6-25′      Spread: 10-15′

Water Usage:  Low
