Gems of the water garden, lilies are summer bloomers with showy flowers that float above round green leaves on the water’s surface. Flowers come in blue, purple, pink, yellow, red, or white. The flowers of many tropical varieties are held high above the water on long stems. Some varieties bloom in the evening. Hardy lilies can remain in the water over the winter; lift and store tropical varieties in a place where they will not freeze.
